About the Author
I was raised in San Luis Obispo, California, a local several generations deep, surrounded by family, wineries, Spanish Missions, beaches, and railroad yard houses. I later moved to Los Angeles, working in law, surrounded by music and its industry, studying law, design, scene study and screenwriting. In 2006, I followed a Southern boy I met in our downtown office plaza back home to North Carolina and started life anew as a wife, mother, and writer, immersed in a world of midwives, doulas, babies, children, wine moms, and Southern culture.
Each part of my life, each with Shelties or a Collies in tow, has gifted me with plenty to write about. The most fascinating parts, in retrospect, have been the transition zones between these places, the spots where seismic culture shock and personal growth occurs.
“I write entirely to find out what I'm thinking, what I'm looking at, what I see and what it means. What I want and what I fear.”
